Admission requirements (what BUK expects)

BUK grouped entry into three main routes. Candidates should stick to the one that fits their papers.

Non-UTME candidates (O level only, no JAMB)

A candidate can apply without JAMB once the person has:

  • at least five O level credits in relevant subjects, including English
  • results from not more than two sittings

That’s it. Five credits, English included.

UTME candidates (O level + JAMB)

UTME candidates can also apply. BUK notes that:

  • candidates with a minimum JAMB score of 180 who chose BUK will get priority

Extra subject rules still apply for some courses:

  • candidates applying for B.Sc. Accounting, B.Sc. Business Administration, B.Sc. Mathematics, B.Sc. (Ed) Mathematics, B.Sc. Health Education, and B.Sc. (Ed) Economics must have credit in O level Mathematics

Also, NBAIS limits choice:

  • holders of NBAIS can only apply for B.A. Arabic and B.A. Islamic Studies

Direct Entry admission (D.E)

For Direct Entry, BUK requires candidates to meet these points:

  • a recognised advanced level paper linked to the chosen course, such as ND, NCE, IJMB (minimum 6 points), Nursing Certificate, Diploma in Health Education, Diploma in Community Health, Diploma in Environmental Health, GCE A level, or other related qualifications
  • at least five O level credits, including English
  • 25 years old and above

More subject rules for some courses:

  • for B.Sc. Accounting, B.Sc. Business Administration, B.Sc. Mathematics, B.Sc. (Ed) Mathematics, and B.Sc. (Ed) Economics, candidates must have O level Mathematics credit
  • for B. Nursing Science and B.Sc. Health Education, candidates must have credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • NBAIS holders can only apply for B.A. Arabic and B.A. Islamic Studies
  • for B.Sc. Public Administration, candidates should have credit in Government/History too

A lot of lists, yes. But it’s clear once a student checks the course name and ticks the right subjects.
